 I was on the edge of my seat all this weekend watching the box office totals come in. I am very anxious and for once want this movie to do very well for itself. While it didn't pull in the numbers I was hoping it would it did exceptionally well for a character with "Hell" in his name whose destiny is to destroy all mankind as a hero! Would Big Red be able to bitch slap that lazy Hancock down into second place?
You bet he did! Pulling in just under $36 million Hellboy II: The Golden Army sits atop the heap this weekend. The film did just about what Universal was aiming for exceeding the previous film intake by 55% on its opening weekend. It is also the best opening for Guilermo del Toro. The movie averaged $11,200 in 3,204 theaters and they are hoping to make $100 million total over the summer despite all the heavy competition. Only time will tell.
