From the LA Times comes more updates on spiderman and even cooler a release date. The producer of the spidey films spilled the beans;
In remarks Thursday to theater owners from California and Nevada, Ziskin said there was no finished screenplay, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful “Spider-Man 4” could be ready in three years’ time.
The first three movies comprise one of the most successful franchises in modern Hollywood history, grossing a combined $2.5 billion worldwide. Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment. But Sony has paid Marvel to renew its rights.
Sam Raimi talked to ComingSoon and spilled the beans on Spiderman 4. Just as a reminder there are no plans to replace Tobey Maguire according to SONY despite early internet rumors to the contrary. Anyrate Sam Raimi told ComingSoon that the new film has a writer and that he is very passionate about doing the sequel;
James Vanderbilt is writing the script and I'm excited to read it. I think it's going to be done in a few months, I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and I'm hoping it feels right for me because I love Spider-Man. I'm hoping I'm well rested enough to embrace it and I'm hoping Sony wants me to do it. If all of those things come together, I would love to do it. There are a lot of unknowns about the future.
Look for more spidey updates soon!
