In 2006 Marvel Max released Haunt of Horror: Edgar Allen Poe. A great mini series that brought some fantastic Poe tales into comic form. Last weekend at the Mondo Marvel panel at Wizard World LA convention they announced that through the MAX imprint once again will be doing Haunt of Horror this time with the tales of H.P. Lovecraft.
It was announced that Richard Corben would once again write and draw the comic. So Newsarama tracked him down and managed to get the skinny on which stories he plans on adapting, "The stories include “Dagon, The Music Of Eric Zann” and “Arthur Jermyn.” These were picked both for length and for variety of subject. The other adaptations are from Lovecraft's poetry, actually all from “Fungi From Yugoth.”"
Lovecraft is actually pretty easy to adapt because there is always a lot of freedom allowed. A lot of what he does is not fully explains and allows an artist a lot of leeway with what they want to do. Following each of the short stories in the comic they will also have the full story in print. You can begin picking up the comic on store shelves beginning June 4th.
