Tuesday night the Sci Fi Channel held a presentation at New York City's Morgan Library. During the conference they talked about a bunch of new shows they plan to bring back and some other original scripted content they are bringing on board. Among those is the upcoming comic book True Believer. Variety reports Sci Fi Channel has given the go ahead to Rosario Dawson to develop the pilot. As most of you know Dawson owns her own comic book publisher and this is just one of several comics she co-created.
"True Believer" focuses on a comicbook nerd who hires a down-at-heels superhero, the duo pairing up to become crime fighters. Dawson is exec producer, and her co-author on the Image Comics book "Occult Crimes Task Force," David Atchinson, will write the script of "Believer" with Matthew Spradlin and Tom Feister.
This sounds fantastic and one can only hope that Dawson will make a couple cameo appearances in the show. She is usually very involved with all of the comics she helps create so I can only imagine she would want to jump in from time to time. As long as the pilot is a success this one should be on the small screen hopefully soon.
