new robocop movie RoboCop remake DelayedQuite some time back we told you that a remake of Robocop was coming. Or more specifically a reboot. MGM and Sony Pictures were going to reboot a new franchise of Robocop films. Io9 is now reporting however it wont be happening until at least 2011. quote;

An MGM spokesman told us the project is still on track — though not for a 2010 release, as reports initially suggested. The rep said that the studio had told distributors at an event a couple weeks ago to expect the movie in 2011. He said director Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, The Fountain) and screenwriter David Self (Road to Perdition) were still working on the script, and that no casting had been completed.

RoboCop was geek-candy for an entire generation the problem is that as the movies progressed they became more and more cheesy and less and less about the dynamic of a robot trained to play cop, that wont reason with you, wont fall prey to criminals ( for the most part ) and will in general kick your ass. Considering what audiences look for now adays I would say that unless they seriously revamp how Robo works this new film will be laughable at best. I think if done right it COULD kick ass. My big fear is it will get done wrong.
