Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow

So it’s official now, Emily Blunt has had to step down from playing Black Widow in Iron Man 2 due to some scheduling conflicts.  There were alot of names thrown around that could be replacing her, including Eliza Dushku, but it’s been confirmed by Nikki Finke that Scarlett Johansson has been given the nod.  This comes as a bit of a surprise, considering Scarlett screen-tested for the role and lost it to Blunt in the first place!

Apparently the deal wasn’t a great deal for Johansson, being a lowball offer, and it ties her to countless more Marvel adaptations, including The Avengers.  Let’s hope that Johansson can do a good job in this role, otherwise we’re going to get a lot of really bad comic book movies coming our way for a long time.  What do you guys think – Is Scarlett the right woman for the job here?  Should they have taken Dushku like the fans really wanted??
