Fox Wins Watchmen Legal Battle. Movie is Dead!

All you Watchmen fans had best start crying now. FOX has just won the battle with Warner Brothers over the copyright and distribution of the Watchmen. Word is that FOX has every intentions of burying the film now that they have finally won their legal battle with Warner Brothers over who really owns the rights to the comic book.
FOX originally picked up the rights to Alan Moores comic in 1987 and had no intentions on making the film without Alan Moore being involved. As many of you know Alan Moore has been very public about NEVER making his comic into a film. So FOX shelved the project. The story then gets more interesting. Lawrence Gordon who it was assumed owned the rights for the project left FOX and then started shopping the film and made a deal with Warner Brothers. Said film gets made and then FOX shows up and points out that Lawrence Gordon did NOT own the film rights.. they did.
As of today the NY Times is reporting that a Judge has ruled in favor of FOX and has suggested that FOX and Warner Brothers get together to work out something. As it stands it looks like FOX can very easily shelf the movie and all the Watchmen fanfare will have been for nothing.
Now that said as much as I said the project is now dead we really just do not know that. What do you think FOX will do now? My thoughts are they will stake their claim to the gold mine, put it in theatres and reap the rewards of a massive film without the expense of making it.
